Marcia Schorer

I am a contemporary painter who works in pastels, acrylics, and mixed media. I love to explore color and form, play and create a dialog with the materials and surface to test the two dimensional picture plane.

The process is energetic, a subverbal conversation, a back and forth. I move the painting forward by both design and chance, never quite finishing, but at some point happy to let it be.

My hope is that the viewer will join the conversation, will be drawn into the painting in the same spirit of play, will react to and find satisfaction in the movement, color, shape, layer, and line.

I have drawn and painted all my life, my left and right brain vying for attention. These days, the right brain is winning.

I studied drawing and painting at UC Berkeley. My work is in collections from California to New York.
